Gary Williams

Gary Williams is an artist with a unique and fascinating approach to creating; he decorates his bedroom ceiling, which he does on a regular basis using recycled materials including bottle lids, pieces of plastic, old cd’s and coins.

Gary first noticed the potential blank canvas of his bedroom ceiling many years ago and began his ceiling pieces by responding to the space that surrounds his bedroom ceiling light. Starting from this central point he creates concentric patterns using differing colour, shape and texture that have an almost tribal quality.

Gary produces all his work at home during the weekends where his father carefully photographs and documents them.

Gary’s work was exhibited in 2007 and 2009 at Pallant House Gallery as part of Outside In

The arrangements of objects are very carefully placed. They do not look like they are made from recycled materials. They resemble mosaics from churches and cathedrals or mandalas made by Buddhist monks.
