Ursula Nash - Artistic Statement

My work is inspired by, and often incorporates, found objects. I am also influenced by nature and music. For me, the most significant factors in my work are colour and texture. I love building both up in layers and am still surprised and excited by the transformation that happens almost miraculously in the final stages of a piece I may have worked on for weeks. Whilst not everything I try works, I throw nothing away. Pieces are often dissected and recycled as parts of a new work. I am a passionate recycler and love the fact that nothing I have made is ever wasted. Many off-cuts and trimmings from my work are re-used in the 'Fairy Custard' range of art cards I produce.

Hi,

I love your work.

So many layers to each piece. So colourful.

I am sure these pictures have to be viewed up close to be fully appreciated.

Hope the exhibition is a big success.

Love,

Leon (Mart)

It was great to hear this news Ursula and to see your wonderful work on Sunday. My partner Gary was bowled over by it and so were other people. You are a very gifted lady and I hope that you will now start to believe in yourself and your unique way of interpreting the world through your art.

Very imaginitive work with lovely colourful and textural layers, particularly like Noise and merely players.
