Difference, opposition and punk.

I try to experiment with difference.

I am an artist who is interested in difference, opposition and unusual juxtaposition. This interest started as a result of punk, which was blossoming as I was a teenager. Combined with the photojournalism of Lee Friedlander, Ian McCullin, Thomas Hopker and the painting of Francis bacon, art seemed to make sense of the contradictions I found everywhere. When I finally broke away from the bonds of home and came to london I met a whole new community of people. Through these people I discovered sexual politics, animal rights, veganism, the political power of the individual, art and dancing. My recent return to do a degree at art college has helped me to redefine this urge to create and I have been using performance as well as photography, video, collage and drawing to examine difference and opposition. I am also a long distance runner, lindy-hopper, walker, skateboarder and a long time lover of the Cramps.
