The Step Up 3 programme has drawn in additional funding from Accentuate, through itsmRevisiting Collections programme. This has enabled several of the Step Up artists to work with Julia Elmore, a freelance curator of Outsider Art and contributor to Raw Vision (a keyinternational journal for Outsider and Visionary Art), to explore the Gallery’s collection. Starting from their position as artists meeting the Outside In criteria, the artists will carry out research into the collection, led by their own interests. This will be both presented as an addition to the existing Step Up workshop packs, as a tour or trail during the Outside In: National exhibition during October 2012-February 2013 and imbedded in the Gallery’s database. This is a key piece of work that further embeds Outside In into the Gallery and allows alternative voices to be heard in the interpretation of the Gallery’s collection.
