ART OF THE SOUL
I'm an artist and a psychotherapist: my work is about TRANSFORMATION.
My art is an expression of my being and a celebration of being here. Through my art, my soul reaches out to yours and others, voicing a shared truth, moving in the dance of life. However we may appear, we are not so different inside, you and I. My work invites you to engage in a profound experience of inner transformation – as does my work as psychotherapist. For me, creating paintings and giving psychotherapy is a parallel process, together forming one set of footprints on my path, each step in tune with the other. Working intuitively from a quiet space within, I welcome and work with whatever comes to me and whatever emerges as I gaze at the canvas. My pictures are multi-facetted and many layered - as is every one of us. Now I invite you to pause... and be with my pictures... long enough to notice the subtle effect created as your being responds.

Mandala of Transformation

I'm inspired by the natural universal patterns I see around me - also found in ancient sacred art designed to engage a person in deep contemplation or meditation. The word 'mandala' is Sanskrit for a dot or circle within a circle. I notice how everything has its centre: the cell has its nucleus, the eye its pupil, the apple its core... This mandala of mine, which started as a drawing of resembling a cup and saucer, is gently revolving and transforming, as do the natural cycles in life. -
Inner Stillness

I learnt to go within - and wait... I learnt to meditate. And I learnt to trust my intuition to guide me. Painting intuitively is a meditative process for me, which requires a certain inner stillness... during which images appear and effects occur. Just as silence is never actually empty of sound - subtle sounds, stillness is never without continual subtle movement. In my painting here, you may notice the silent rhythm of the waves slow-dancing at the shore of your awareness... and in the very centre a richness and depth of presence. -

For we human beings, our waking moments tend to be filled with do-ing. How about be-ing: being present, being awake, being fully alive! I wanted to paint a human be-ing, so did so. -
Shell Breaking

For many years times many, I've been inspired by the writings of Kahlil Gibran. In 'The Prophet', he writes (according to the translation): "Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding." I have experienced that pain, many times already, and many times to come. From that awful healing pain rises a deep strength and feeling of joy.

I simply adore your art. To look upon your work instils a beautiful, tranquil sense of peace within my own crazy, chaotic world inside my head.
Your images seem so simple yet complex and subtle all at once, however I find them very calming.

Are you familiar with the writings of Millar Mairne (hope I have spelt it correctly)
You probably are given the field you work in.....his vision was really important to me at a certain stage in my development as an artist - its a shame he is not better known. Your artwork has a lovely subtlety (spelling ??!!) to it.
