A few words about myself - Ivana Vavreckova

My name is Iva. I am just an ordinary girl who loves painting, writing verses and travelling. Painting is my biggest love. Sometimes I like to play with words and I try to write something witty that can talk to people´s souls. In my paintings I like to express the beauty of the human body, soul and passing nature of every living creature in this world, and to realize the real virtue of the human life and understanding the world. Travelling is another passion of mine. Lots of my works were created in countries where I spent some time and they reflect my perception of the countries, people, happiness and love. In 2006 I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The worst was when my right arm paralyzed. "How I will paint now?" that was my first question. I call my MS my lover. We fight and we live together every day. We are like a couple. My MS is moody, sometimes sweet, kind, helpful, fumes and sometimes berates, grumbles. We got used to each other. MS is an integral part of me, I think without MS I would not be myself. What I think is that, thanks to MS I paint and write poetry. MS took something from me and gave me something too. With MS life does not end, life goes on and still I can paint. I love sun in my face, wind in my hair, raindrops behind my neck, laughter, morning dew, sky full of stars, white wine, good music, I think much of my friends and they have my respect. Of course, I am not the ideal of the world, I have my shortcomings, but everybody does, don´t they? Well, that´s me…let yourself get drifted away, by the rainbow of colours.

You have no shortage of enthusiasm for painting. Your work has a surreal quality to it. The body of paintings and photographs that you have created are an inspiration to all those who suffer from Multiple Sclerosis.This is a brilliant show of art!
