I love to be spontaneous in what I make, using lots of different materials and ways of working and have always found it hard to have to follow instructions and work rigidly-it kills my creativity!I spend time looking at how things are formed-rocks, pebbles, bits of wood, seed pods, trees...and use this to inspire me.

Love your work, Debbie!

Hope you are still finding time to do your art in and amongst caring for Rachel.

Part of our house in Malham belonged to an artist and blacksmith who did wonderful wood- and lino-cuts. His name was Bill Wild. Another neighbour of ours in her later years was the renowned engraver Joan Hassall. Have always been fascinated by wood-cuts in particular. Now I'm not working maybe I should have a try, your Red Tree has really inspired me!

All the best, Ria x
